The Promise of Change

“The only constant is change.” This paraphrase of a quote by the Greek philosopher, Heraclitus, is extremely meaningful to me because of the changes that UCX and HVE have experienced over the last few years. Our team started a transformation from the moment of its inception. UCX and HVE were  founded with the simple belief that we could help people. Initially, we didn’t focus on the day to day complexities of the business, the logistics of operations, or any other of the routine processes and procedures that are measurements of success. It was always about helping our customers first and building a strong, dynamic team.

Over the years, we have demanded more from ourselves, through process improvement, continuing education, team building, leadership development, and finding solutions to the hundreds of technical challenges brought to us by our customers. All of these experiences have taught us how to communicate with each other, how communication inevitably leads to collaboration, and how, through any minor or substantial change, we remain at our core, people helping other people with their technology needs.
 
The joining of UCX and HVE with Sphere 3D has been another of the moments in our lives that some of us would consider change, for some it is growth, for others the excitement of future possibilities. For me, I see a talented group of people that are ready and willing to collaborate with others. As we combine our processes, practices, and people, the ‘new’ team is excited about the reality of what our future holds and how we will be able to help so many more people that need that help.
 
As I contemplate this monumental change for our companies, I must include an epilogue from Jean-Baptiste Alphonse Karr: “plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose” (the more things change, the more they stay the same). We are going to continue helping people achieve their objectives, but now in ways not possible in the past. We are going to continue to be as fair and thoughtful about our customers and employees as we have always been, but our resources have increased dramatically. For all the things that may change, we will still be the strong team of people that will do everything we can to insure the success of our customers. This will never change.
